About
An independent academy.
Oxford Theology Academy is an independent online institution founded to teach the great Christian tradition the way it should be taught: slowly, beautifully, and from the primary sources — without assuming a seminary degree.
We are not affiliated with the University of Oxford. The academy is named for the city, the tradition of teaching that grew up there, and the conviction that an Oxford-style education in theology should be available to anyone with a quiet evening and an open mind.
Who teaches

Our resident tutor is Ashby Neterer, Tutor of Theology at Oriel College, Oxford. He is completing his DPhil under Mark Edwards on the Greek Christian poem Christus Patiens, which uses classical mythology to set Christian and Greek theology side by side. He teaches Greek mythology, Church history, and music theory, and his poems and musical compositions have appeared in Bollman Bridge Review and Swamp Magazine. Originally from Virginia, he hopes one day to teach Theology and Classics at a liberal arts college in the United States.
How the courses work
Each course is six to eight lectures of thirty to forty-five minutes, watchable on any device. You buy a course once and keep streaming access for life. The opening lecture of every course is free.
What you won't find here
We are not a church, an apologetics outlet, or an academic department. Our courses are for thoughtful adults — believers, sceptics, students, and curious newcomers — who want to take the tradition seriously.
